Spring 2012 Class Announcements

Welcome to the on-line Math 112 Course.

It is mandatory that every student to attend one  of the three scheduled on-campus orientations. These orientions will be conducted  on Saturday February 4th at 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon,  Monday February 6th, and Tuesday  February 7th, 2012 at 3:00 PM to 5:00PM. All these orientaions will be  in TE 221. 

If you cannot attend any of these orientations contact your instructor ASAP (before the orientation dates).

To register in a Course Compass:

          In order to start your class work, you need to register into virtual class.

     1. To register into coursecompass you need to have:

           A valid email address. If you do not have email address you can get a free email address by going to http://www.yahoo.com or  http://www.hotmail.com
           The courseID for your class is meftagh65767
           Student access code Course ID, if you buy new book student access code come with it or  you  buy student access code on-line. If you already have a used book, you need to buy
          student access code. Before buying access code use the 17 day free trial from the coursecompassand get temporary access without payment for 17 days.

     2. Go to www.coursecompass.com  (bookmark it for easy access), and click the Student under Register button. Follow the on-screen instructions to create your account. Make sure to get temporary access without payment for 17 days.


 Before you start your course, you need to install MymathLab and plug-ins.

To use Installation Wizard:

     Use the MyMathLab Installation Wizard to install the plug-ins and players you need to view and interact with the multimedia content in your course.
     You need to run the Wizard before completing homework, tests, or practice exercises in MyMathLab.

     Tip: For an overview of the Installation Wizard, open MyMathLab Student Help and search on "installation wizard" in the Index. Do you need help?Please contact Product Support for
     assistance.
 

After purchasing the course material and registering into course compass.
Login into http:// www.courscompass.com as a student using your Username and Password.
Click on your course.

To send an email to me or your classmates through Course Compass:

     Login to your class.
     Click Communication tab to left.
     Click on Send E-mail.
     Choose All Users or Select Users.
     Type the subject and message.
     Click on Send.
     The person receives the email on his/her email server.

To do your Home work:

     Go to http://coursecompass.com/
     Login as student using your Login name and Password.
     Click on your course.
     Click on  the Do Homework tab to the left.
     Click on the Submit button.
     If you cannot see the assignment, you did not install programs properly. You must install them before doing homework on-line.
     There is no time limit or a due date on Homework assignment.

Read the textbook, work examples, and do exercises after each section. Use Student Solution Manual for help.
If you have any question please email your instructor form the course room  immediately.

To take a test or quiz:

     Click the Take a Test tab on left column.
     The first block is Tests Assigned by My Instructor
     Click the test or quiz you wish to take. Pay attention to due dates.
     If you cannot see the test, you did not install programs properly. You must install them before taking test.
     Click Start Test box to start the test. You can take each test only up to two times,  the highest score will count towards the grade.
     Pay attention to the time that you have for each test.

Make sure to finish all the sections assigned for each week and do not let yourself to get behind. Try to be ahead of the schedule.
If you need help or facing unexpected sitution please contact me ASAP.
The online tests are only active for days as schedule in the class calendar. Do not miss those date.
Refer to the class calendar for the dates of the on-campus tests.

This class has three on-campus tests

First test will be on Wednesday March 14th, 2012 at 4:00 PM in TE 221. This test will cover chapters 1, 2 and 3
Second test will be Wednesdat April 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM, in TE 221. This test will cover chapters 4, 5, and 6
 
Final exam will be in on Friday June 3rd, 2012 at 9:00AM in TE 221. This test will cover chapters 1-9 and 10.1,10.2

Please bring a picture ID with you when coming to take an on-campus test.

If for any reason you cannot attend any of these on-campus tests you need to notify your teacher at least one week before the test date to arrange a makeup test.

There will be No Make up for any of the exams. If you fail to attend any of the exams you will receive Zero point for that exam ( unless pre-arrange).
If you you do not take the final exam, you will receive Zero point for the final exam.
In case of emergency, you must email me, and with the proper documentation, a make up exam may be granted.
Online quizzes for the sections you are taking the exams must be done before each on-campus exam.

Grading Policy:

Your semester grade depends on total points earned in the course. The break down of the points is as follows:
Note: As long as you take all the online quizzes and receive 80% or better, you will get the full 150 points for the online quizzes.  Use the online tutorial and quizzes to prepare for the on-campus exams.
