Career Experience
Steven Seck started teaching judo at L.A. Trade-Technical College
in 1981. He was a member of the 1980 USA Olymic Judo Team and the
1981 USA World Judo Team. Steve was lso a three-time national champion
(1978, 79, 80) and a two-time US Open Champion (1980, 81). He was
selected by US Judo, Inc., the national governing body for judo, in 1980
as their "judo player of the year."
Steve was elected into the Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame in 1980
due to being the first judo athlete to win the National Championship, Olympic
Trials and US Open all in the same year (1980.) He retired from active
judo competition in 1984 after winning the gold medal at the Rodriguez
Cup in Havana, Cuba. There he defeated Onmura, from Brazil, the 1984
Olympic Bronze medalist.
Steven Seck continues to teach and coach judo athletes at L.A. Trade-Technical
College, where they have achieved success at the local, regional, and national
level.
