36A: Reading Fundamentals covers
basic vocabulary skills and paragraph comprehension. |

the same skills as LS 36A on longer readings from a variety of
subjects. It introduces a six-step method for reading and study. |

36C: Study Reading adapts the
six-step method for textbook reading, using selections from a variety of
college textbooks. |

67A: Reading for College
Success: Critical Thinking is designed to improve critical thinking, inferential
reading comprehension and verbal reasoning skills. Strategies and processes will be introduced to help students to
employ logical and verbal reasoning to interpret, evaluate, and critically
analyze reading material. Students
will formulate written explanations to substantiate their responses to
reading questions and logic problems. |

Success: Critical Reading is designed to improve critical reading and logical
reasoning skills. Students will apply
logical reasoning skills to solve analogy, logic problem, and sentence
relationship exercises. Students will
formulate written explanations to substantiate their responses to reading

67C: Reading for College
Success: Textbook Critical Reading is designed to develop textbook critical reading
strategies. Students will analyze
textbook selections; formulate objective and essay questions; prepare for
tests using underlining, highlighting, and marginal notetaking strategies;
construct graphic organizers and flashcards; and organize main ideas and
details by utilizing outlining strategies.
Students will formulate written explanations to substantiate their
responses to reading questions and logic problems. |
