After
taking the Accuplacer Placement Exam in building R-100, look at the reading
score and enroll in the Learning Skills reading class that is
recommended. If more than one
Learning Skills class is recommended, please ask a Learning Skills advisor
for help. |

|
|
||
|
If you score: ·
95 or higher, you will be
eligible to enter the RN Program. ·
Between 88 and 94.9, you
will be eligible to enter the LVN Program. ·
Between 55 and 87.9, you
will be eligible to enter the CNA Program. |
||
|
|
||
|
If you do not receive the score
required for your program, you will need to take a series of reading courses
from the following sequence based upon your Accuplacer score. For more information on Learning Skills
hybrid reading courses, go to http://wellness.lattc.edu/lindsey/online.html. |

Upon
completion of the reading course, the following factors will be used to
determine your preparedness to retake the Accuplacer test: ·
Grade of “Credit” in the
class ·
Reading level progress ·
Informal reading test
score |

If
you are eligible to retake the test, your instructor will give you a
recommendation slip. After retaking
the Accuplacer, bring the printout of your results to Valerie Cole-Eke in
C-106. |

|
If your score falls lower
than the cutoff score of desired program: ·
Take classes from the
Advanced Reading Practice Program.
This self-paced program focuses on intense critical and inferential
reading practice. |

|
If you do not receive a
recommendation slip to retake the Accuplacer… ·
Proceed to the next class
as listed in the Learning Skills Pre-Nursing Reading Program Sequence of
Classes above. ·
And have already taken LS
67ABC and 68, you will be required to take a class or more from the Advanced
Reading Practice Program. This
self-paced program focuses on intense critical and inferential reading
practice. The classes are self-paced
and focuses on intense reading practice. |

Note: Following these guidelines will help to
ensure higher level reading proficiency, but does not guarantee your
advancement to the next reading level, class or entrance into the Nursing
Program. |
